In September 2026, ICR organized Kyoto University Chemistry Talent-Spot 2026 Ulaanbaatar. This was the eleventh edition of the event, which has been held in various locations across Asia (including online) since 2017. This time, with the cooperation of the National University of Mongolia and the Mongolia-Japan Center, students interested in studying abroad for their master’s and PhD degrees were recruited. Students who participated in the event received an introduction of ICR and iCeMS (Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences), an overview of student life in Kyoto and mini-lectures by 6 faculty members from ICR and 2 faculty members from iCeMS. Then they had individual interviews. We heard comments from the participating students such as ‘It was a valuable opportunity and a meaningful experience’, ‘The opportunity to speak one-on-one with a professor deepened my understanding of Kyoto University.’ and ‘Having the opportunity to speak directly with a professor increased my motivation to study at Kyoto University’.
