On May 26, 2025, the Institute for Chemical Research (ICR), Kyoto University, welcomed a group of students from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, for a networking event. The visitors consisted of 16 undergraduate students participating in NTU’s CN Yang Scholars Programme, and the visit was arranged in response to NTU’s request as part of the program’s overseas study component.
The event featured an overview of ICR by Professor Yasuhiro Ohki, followed by a presentation from Kyoto University’s Admissions Office introducing study-abroad opportunities. In addition, Assistant Professor Vaibhav Pal Singh(Chemical Biology), who completed his Ph.D. at ICR as a Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship recipient and is now continuing his research at ICR, gave a talk that captivated the students.
The program also included a networking session with a total of 15 current international students and research trainees at ICR, during which the NTU students actively exchanged ideas and asked questions. In the latter half of the event, a lab tour was held, featuring visits to three laboratories.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to directly introduce ICR’s international research environment to students interested in pursuing research and graduate studies in Japan.
