| Joint Usage / Research Center : Frontier / Interdisciplinary Research Core in ICR for Deepening Investigation and Promoting Cooperation in Chemistry-Oriented Fields | |
| Representative from ICR : TOKITOH, Norihiro | Term : 2010-2015 |
| Institute for Chemical Research (ICR) has been functioning from 2010 as the “Joint Usage/Research Center (JURC)” approved by MEXT. On the basis of the frontier research and extensive domestic/ international collaboration so far conducted at ICR, the JURC aims at further developments of cooperative researches and cultivation of active young researchers in the chemistry-oriented fields. 68 research subjects are pursued at JURC in the fiscal year of 2010. | |
| MEXT Project of Integrated Research on Chemical Synthesis | ![]() |
| Joint Project with CRC (Hokkaido Univ.), RCMS (Nagoya Univ.), and IMCE (Kyushu Univ.) | |
| Representative from ICR : OZAWA, Fumiyuki |
Term : 2010-2015 |
| Cutting-edge scientific research is increasingly interdisciplinary. In order to advance and create integrated research on chemical synthesis it is imperative to have coordinated cooperation across various research fields. Our cooperative research initiative is very unique, one of a kind in that it coordinates collaborative research across four different institutions. | |

Representative from ICR :KANEMITSU, Yoshihiko |
Term: 2007-2011 |
|
In this program, we aim at establishing the COE for “photonics and electronics science and engineering” to investigate and develop innovative technologies, by which an arbitrary manipulation of photons (light) and an ultimate control of electrons will be achieved, as we hold the motto of “challenge the limitations of current technology and create new functionalities”. |

| Joint Program with Graduate School of Science (Division of Physics and Astronomy), Kwasan and Hida Observatories, the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics and Research Center for Low Temperature and Materials Sciences Program Leader : KAWAI, Hikaru (Graduate School of Science) |
|
| Representative from ICR : SAKABE, Shuji |
Term: 2008-2012
|
| In this program, we seek to unite seemingly independent realms by uncovering the fundamental universality extending across their boundaries, while searching for novel and diverse emergent phenomena that could not be predicted by deduction from such laws alone. The objective of this GCOE program is to make progress toward the construction of the next generation of physics, spun from universality and emergence, while developing independent-minded researchers who will be capable of opening new frontiers in the study of natural phenomena. | |
